How much of the internet is fake

There is always fake and things to watch out for.

That's really hard to determine. There are a lot of fake sites on the internet(I'd probably say between 500K - 2M). But the thing is, most of the Web is the Deep Web. Then below that is the Dark Web. So since a small amount of the web is Surface and Dark and the rest is Deep. It'd be really hard to count how many fake sites there are over the web's 1.8 Billion Web Pages.

You can probably cover them to some extent by going over every possible IP (that's what many bots which attack sites do) and whatever a bot can reach, although sometimes sites have complex routing arrangements through CDNs and often times a single server might host countless sites.

Although, you are right that a lot of these particularly problematic ones probably want to stay off the radar while messing with the ad networks. I do know that ad networks though sometimes counter that by limiting business with sites which aren't reachable by normal means.

There is always alot of fake propaganda on the internet, most of the things you read on social media is fake.
Not as much fishing happens these days as it used to be.

Well, I've kind of known this all along and have warned people. :bored: A lot of this stuff is simply "legal crime". It should be illegal because it's nothing but a fraud - targeting suckers. I mean, this stuff where you pay $1 for 1,000 YouTube views or $1 for 5,000 pop-under views! Give me a break! As said before, I would stick to buying traffic from Google, Bing, or Facebook. Well, there might be a few other good ones - but beware!

If what you mean by 'Illegal' is arresting people who make fake websites then I think that's a tad, bit over-board. Don't you think? I'd probably say that a fine between £250($330.25 as of current exchange rates on Google) - £800($1056.80 as of current exchange rates on Google) is enough. I think arresting someone over a fake website is too far and would stir up a lot of controversy.

The only people who should be arrested are people who run the sites on the Dark Web. Maybe the Deep Web too as both of them are very sketchy places to visit.

That's quite true. Since Social Media is so big and today's people are so dumb, a lot can easily fall for all of the fake news going around on Social Media.
Keep in mind you only access 1% of the internet most of the gritty news that is true is on the dark web so if you want the truth to stories go there as people are brutally honest. (You can guess what you find on the dark web regarding "news")
Well, if you use a browser like Tor then you'd be able to access more than 1% of the web. It's quite that a lot of the real news is on the Deeper and Darker parts of the Web but a lot of it is also on the Surface Web. It's mainly more graphic, disturbing and scarier news that's reported on those parts of the Web(To my knowledge anyway).

The Internet is no doubt, filled with fake stuff. Websites, Blogs, Forums, Gaming Sites, Social Media Posts and tons of other stuff on the Web can all be fake. It just comes down to realizing and finding out that sites that you may visit can be fake.

Facebook and Cloudflare run Tor hidden services lol

The argument by Cloudflare is that people can use Tor for legitimate purposes to avoid censorship from dictators and what-not.

It's been proven before that the "dark web" (aka sites hidden behind Tor hidden services) is tiny compared to the real web.
Maybe, the deep web which is basically any page which isn't indexed by search engines.

Yes. The Deep Web is something that cannot be indexed by Search Engines. Dark Web Sites need a special .onion address to access them alongside special browser.

The Dark Web isn’t just a small place. So is the surface web but that of course(To my knowledge anyway) contains more than the Dark Web.

I suppose it's not worth it to jail pop-under sellers (web traffic). In that case, you'd have to use natural selection to teach buyers that it's bad. However, it amazes me that this scammy stuff fools so many people!
