With the death of OJ, this is brought into the spotlight. Anyway, from the POV of wife/child beaters, they think they are doing a good service to the world. They are upholding justice and whoever is hit deserves it. Of course, this is garbage, but surely it goes along with the whole right-wing narrative that everyone is soft.

I think there should be zero tolerance for domestic violence. We need stricter laws and strong enforcement of those laws. If a man beats on his wife and children, he deserves to go to prison. No if's or buts about it. We charge people with assault and battery when they publicly attack others, this should be no different.

Zero tolerance, I agree @MrDawn - TBH, zero tolerance for ANY abuse, even animal IMO. I don't hurt or kill anything IRL, not even fishing.

I wonder why these guys or gals, in some cases, keep on hitting? They believe they are justified.

I think I've come to an conclusion on this as well. I believe it makes them feel in control and that it is a coping mechanism for their anger and depression. So them beating their wife, their kid, or their dog on a daily basis gives them an outlet. Because they have no control over their own lives.
They believe they are justified.
Yeah ,that's part of it. I think the justification is an excuse that helps them ignore the real problem. They feel the need to pathologically convince themselves that they're doing a good thing. This is what narcissists do. They abuse others but place blame on everyone else but themselves.

It's not acceptable for them to have punching bags for their mood swings. That's basically what it is. That's horrible, of course.

I always tell women to leave a man the very moment that man threatens to beat you. That's a violent man. Don't wait till he beats you. Leave that man and report to the authorities. Don't think about it.

I was staying with this family member as a roommate. He kept joking about breaking my legs and he's hit me before a few years ago. OK, so I get the hint. I moved out to assisted living. No regrets.

Some abusers justify violence as “discipline” or “justice,” but it’s a rationalisation, not a valid argument. It’s unrelated to politics and still harmful.

I have no tolerance for men or even women who beat their spouse, children, or animals period. If you are laying your hands on innocent people and creatures that can't defend themselves, you don't deserve tolerance regardless of gender.

One thing that's going on is rapists trying to justify rape on how the woman dresses and, sadly, I've even seen Christians try to use the same argument. Well, I'd say that a woman dressing modestly is for self-respect and to possibly deter fornication, but it's not determent to rape. That's a stupid argument. Men who rape are entitled psychos and the woman's dress has nothing to do with it.

I agree. Modesty and rape are two completely separate issues. Someone can believe in modest dress for personal, moral, or religious reasons, but that doesn't make it a safeguard against rape. The responsibility for rape rests 100% with the rapist.

Trying to blame a victim because of what they were wearing ignores the fact that rapists target people of all ages and in all kinds of clothing. The problem isn't how someone dresses; it's the criminal actions and mindset of the person committing the assault.
