I am running a paid to post community forum since 2014. As my forum is a paid to post forum, I am paying my members for their activity. My main income source is Advertising. I am selling ad space on my forum and collecting fund for my members 😀 I didn't earn much with my forum, because I need to pay my member and they really work hard, they deserve it. Beside I also don't want to get much profit from my site. I just want to make a large and friendly community . However, let me know how much you have earned with your forum ??/
I've currently just earned enough to support the web hosting costs and domain costs. I'm hoping to improve this over time to host more giveaways and other things for the community to really give back to everyone who has helped earned that money.
I made a very small profit at one time on WordPress blogs, but only getting involved in link exchanges. However, the rules for SEO were different in those days. Nowadays, it would take money to make money, no getting around it.
Note, I haven't attempted a commercial forum that wasn't attached to a blog as the main page.
