Do you think it's the main reason people have no money? I don't think it's the only reason, but it's a big factor. For instance, two people should be able to get by on $20 a day (in the USA) and one person should be able to get by on $20 a day, if they have a fairly good job.

I really think that money management should be a part of senior year in high school. My husband's family were really good at investing and planning and my family got by but had no investments except for insurance policies and my dad's pension for his future. When I started dating my husband, I learned a lot from his family and I've been trying to teach my own daughter but she's not very good at listening until later when she hears things from other people. Go figure.

It's hard to get by on little income and try to have a good budget. I think that finding a job that has a 401k or other type of investments is critical these days.

I have family members who don't know how to manage their money and they're also the people who will go daily to Starbucks and pay $5 for a drink and then complain they have no money for bills later on. That type of discussion needs to start early. Sometimes you need to sacrifice!

I think it's often a combination of factors with poor money management certainly being one of them. Upbringing and expectations also come into play. People have come to expect more than just the basics and find it hard to prioritize.

I've had periods in my life when I've had no money and other times when I've had substantially more than the average person. I really don't care for money, I was much happier during the times when I had none. I guess the nature of my upbringing taught me how to make the most of what I've got.

One thing I do know is the UK's resolve is going to be tested to the limit. Inflation, massive increases in the cost of living coupled with low wages is about to reach a tipping point.

A big cause of poverty has to be bad money management, but, nonetheless, I think charity within reason is the right thing to do.

Too bad we cant make narcotics disappear. So many people waste their money and lives on it. The world would be a better place without it.
