Wear clothing with your domain name written in big bold red text on the shirt. I see it all the time when I walk in to a store. The employees are forced to wear uniforms with the stores domain name on their uniform.
Write your domain name on your car and drive it slowly around a area with lots of people.
Word of mouth is also good if you are talking to the right crowd.
Having a party where the domain name is on a banner or written on an area where a lot of people can see it.
I notice GoDaddy and NetFlix pay Youtube members to promote their website.

Find a few key words and attack them, it's pretty easy actually. And then search engines will do the rest.
I've found that the best combination for me seems to be a good site title, relevant description, and just attack a couple of keywords using anchor text. Then you just kind of play the waiting game.
Look at my signature, those are my keyword targets. The pages they link to have a title and description that work with the anchor text. It's all I've found that I need... from a hard genre like gaming, to a fairly simple genre like a rat forum I had. Just give it a bit of time 🙂

Ya a few webmasters have agreed to help me big time with SEO and I already have a few promoters

I read there are some SEO optimize templates for phpBB , but I forgot the name .
I find writing interesting and unique content with little good competition tends to bring in traffic since some of my readers use my tutorials on my website as the source link or recommended links on their blog, forum, and website posts, or even posts on Yahoo Answers, and other answer sites.

But what you're asking is paradoxical. In order to gain traffic, you must either advertise or optimize. There is no other option. The above given examples, eg. Word of mouth, targeting keywords, wearing clothing etc. are all examples of advertising or SEO. There is no cheap shortcut to getting traffic.
The only example I could give is still slightly related to SEO, but is buying domains that have typos of other big sites. You could at least get some traffic from that, but will cost, but since you don't want advertising, I could infer that you have no money to spend, so this idea wouldn't work.
