I joined twitter yesterday afternoon and already I have achieved 24 followers. Apart from follow/follow exchanges, how else can I get more followers? What sort of things can I 'tweet' about that will get more users to follow me?
Here are just some examples of traffic-driving strategies (there are many more):
1. Create a tool/application and promote your profile alongside it.
2. Buy a banner ad to target tech-savvy audiences, link it to your profile.
3. Use Twitter as a tool for tech/customer support.
4. Organize a contest through your Twitter profile
5. Include links to your profile in email/forum signatures.
6. Evangelize Twitter on your blog/other blogs and include a link to your profile.
7. Connect your blog and other social media profiles to your Twitter page.
8. Learn to pitch Twitter influencers with articles relevant to their interest
9. Explicitly ask another user to recommend your profile or exchange recommendations.
Follow these guys. A lot of them will follow you back. After that, you can use this guy to follow back people who follow you and unfollow people who don't follow you.
Try posting a Twitter widget/add-on somewhere on your website, http://twitter.com/goodies/widgets
and post your twitter link in your sig for forums, social networks and blogs.
Twet famous people, and hope they can reply back. If you get a reply back from JustinBieber or some other famous person. You might get a few more followers since your @username will be on their twitter page, and Justin Bieber have 4,538,647 followers and 254,041 listed.
Use cash, or FP Cash to pay people with lots of followers to twet "Follow my friend @username".
Try using 'hash words' when you tweet too. For example when I tweet from my gaming website i'll add keywords like #gaming or #xbox. I'm not really sure how it works but it does help bring people to your twitter page.
Um...pick a random person on Twitter and start following all their followers - then choose one of their followers and start following all those followers. Then download a tool which unfollows anyone not following you and use that. Then repeat.
Twitter is useless if all you want are a ton of followers so the means of getting them doesn't have any effect on 'quality.'
Sort of topic. But, I read that Justin Bieber twetted a cell phone number of his "Enemy/Hater" and it caused the guy phone to be full of text messages and calls ringing every minute.
I have 68 twitter followers for Eruption Entertainment i just signed up to one of those applications mentioned. Also tweeting more gets your page seen alot more regularly which can get you more followers also
#teamfollowback is great. Also, take note of other people participating. If you follow them, they will usually follow you back.
Also, a lot of followback accounts have lists stating that they're followbacks. These lists can have up to 500 other followback accounts that you can follow, then have the other accounts reciprocate.
