How to get new people with not much advertising?

You're probably in the wrong business, if you don't have alot of time to sacrifice for advertising. My forum's been open for a year; and i have not missed a single day of promoting; no matter how active it gets.

Send your forum into as many free directory submittion sites as you can. You should also try advertising on other promotion forums or even huge forums such as http://neoseeker.com/forum (which has millions of users.)

Thats a gaming site. Won't help those of us who do not run gaming sites.

Additionally, promoting on sites like that will result in a ban as i am sure alot of people try it and they are a big target for spammers wanting to promote their links so they probably ban these type of users on sight.
