How to get Twitter followers?

Hello.

What is the best way to get Twitter followers.
I mean RELEVANT twitter followers.

I don't want random people who sell things like Tamadol or other scamming rubbish following me.
But how do I get people who are genuinely interested in my topic to follow me?

I set it up for my web hosting company (which isn't yet open).
But I would like to know how to get an initial follower base.
It's not much point opening, and then tweeting to myself as I have no followers. LOL. 😛
 
Follow people who follow back. There are lists out there for just that. And you've also got to have quality tweets to gain followers along the way.

Either that, or use an attractive girl as your profile picture.

The best way to get quality followers is to follow people who are interested in topics relevant to you or your business. You can use Twitter's search facility, to find relevant discussions, follow the people involved in those discussions and then get involved in the conversation. Many of them will follow you back and they will be relevant, quality followers.

But they'd be other web hosting companies.
I.e. Rivals. 😕

Not necessarily, you could follow people discussing webmaster topics and web hosting issues from a user's perspective.
 
I don't know if this will be advertising or not.
But over at http://www.widerangefollow.com/ i promote you to targeted niche.

Your niche is scarce. I recently deleted a lot of people so not that many to follow or be followed by. But you never know, maybe someone who hasn't visited my website may follow you. Or maybe someone can retweet, the possibilities are endless.
 
Tweeting to yourself is the same as making new threads before a forum opens. When new users(followers) view your forum(twitter) they will see what quality content(tweets) you have, thus persuading them to join(follow).
 
I have over 140 followers since I started the account last month and I only follow about 30, I get the majority of mine by tweeting to the right people by using the hashtags as people who follower certain tags then follow you if you post stuff they are interested in.
