If you own a local business with a website, you are likely to rank higher in local search (such as when someone uses the name of your city/county), if you optimize for local SEO.

Here are three things you must do in order to rank high in local search results (for your city/county) if you own a local business with a website.

Claim a local profile on Google Places (and any other local based platform). Google Places site will allow you to include a full description of your business along with name/address/phone number and local contact info.

The second most important factor when optimizing for local SEO is citation. To get a citation, you will want to list your company name/address/phone number on the same page in the same format used for your Google Places listing. It's important this citation matches the one you used on Google places exactly.

The third (and possibly) most important factor for ranking high with local searches are good reviews. Ask your customers to leave reviews on your Google Places page. The more reviews you have there, the more likely you are to rank higher (for your actual website, not just your Google Places page).

Your location name in title, content plays very important role... adding address, phone no. etc would also help a lot.

Try finding local websites, forums, blogs and get links from there.
