Hello,

Today I'll be posting a few ways to show how to see if your clients are active or not. I know, have in-active client's waste space on your box or whatever you use, Is very annoying.

#1: Is their website up: Check if their web-site / forum is even up. Does it even go to a real page? If it just goes to an error page, That is a clear sign.

#2: Are they active via cPanel: This is probably the most easy way to see, Check cPanel / WHMCS and see the last time they logged on.

How to avoid these things?

I know at my host, we have a system setup to where we have a bot check the web-site and see if it connect's to any real page, If the page goes no where, It'll send the client an email stating they have 2 days or 48 hours to open a ticket via client area and cancel the automatic suspension of their product.

I am curious about why you are notifying them so quickly and suspending them so quickly. I understand that maybe you are doing them a favor and saving them some cash, but I think you could make some extra cash by not notifying them. You can safely, and legally assume that the client wants their subscription until they clearly and directly tell you that they are cancelling their subscription or do so through an automated system.

There are plenty of people in the world that have paid for hosting to host a static page, or a coming soon / under construction page. Sometimes projects don't get off the ground, but some admins would not like it if their static/error/construction/coming soon page randomly disappeared, especially if they had some files uploaded to the FTP.
