This is a demo of what I have:

http://x3demob.cpx3demo.com:2082/frontend/x3/index.html?post_login=49212696272612

I am sure I will know how to use it well in time. But I want to know where I install mods and choose sofware like phpBB. And where my files come that I download: sofware, mods, etc ...

If I know this it would be nice, also where can I add a index page so I have a forum. Now I have nothing.

Thanks so much!

Softaculous for phpbb (or go for the crap software to install a crap software Exacta by using Fantastico to install phpBB). Legacy File Manager for files and an index.html page. Though it is easier to use a FTP Client.

Any free forum software will give you instructions and stuff. Check it out, whether it be phpBB, MyBB, SMF, or whatnot.

Typically, it's just

- Create a MySQL Database through cPanel
- Create a MySQL Username/password combo, then add that user to the database with all permissions (this is optional, you can just use your cPanel username/password in most cases)
- Upload the files in the zip file of the forum software you download (most of them have an upload folder, if not, upload everything)
- Then run install.php or the /install directory.

If they ask to CHMOD, that is just simply changing the permissions of a file or folder. 0777 or 777 means that anyone can write it, and it's crucial for a forum to have permissions in some of those files. You can do this in cPanel by clicking on the file name and clicking on change permissions.

Hope that helps. And I still stick with my statement. Check out all the forum software out.

You will download the software like phpbb from their websites and you will upload it to your hosting account via FTP. Once then, you should follow on-screen instructions from there to finish installing the software.

Sorry if this is not what your asking.

phpbb can be downloaded from phpbb.com

Don't you think a manual install might be a little too advanced for somebody who doesn't know how to use cPanel?

I could always guide them on how to install it or make a tutorial for them.

It's best to manually install, that way you know what you did and what needs adjustment later on. Otherwise you later on didn't know what you (or an automated installer) did upon installing.

I will also suggest AutoMOD (found over at www.phpbb.com) which is an Automated MOD Installer!

I can also install MODs for you against a small fee.
