Hi everyone. Right now, I really want to start up a forum. The problem is, I do not have any ideas. Some things I am passionate about are Coding/Programming, Gaming, Mac's and general Computing. However, there are many of these forums out there, so I am kind of stuck. I would really love some idea's, I am the typical teen, so any advice from anymore typical teens would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe not run a forum, how about a site instead, there's way to many sites around now days most of which fail quickly. A website IMO is a lot more fun, sure it takes a little extra work, but you get more out of it, and it's easier to gain traffic, and if it gets popular, there's nothing stopping you adding a forum to it.

But that's just my opinion, but i think it would be your best bet at this time.

OK Unbreakable, thank you for that, it was at the very back of my mind. I am thinking of maybe a Diabetes related site, where I can get some users to give us some different experiences and such that we can post on the site, which would be good seeing as I have been living with it for a good 10+ years.

That would be a good one.. However promoting it would be hard.. Maybe google "Diabetes forums" and post around on the larger ones.. Of course having your signature linking to your forum.

Yeah, that is a good idea, at least this way I have first hand experience

I have found a fairly active Diabetes forum with 300k posts, I will start there

Make up your own idea's and go with them, usually (Ive noticed) if you use other peoples idea's and not your own, it will work for the first few months but everything goes downhill after that, based on: Past member experience.

You can create blog on social media. Discussions regarding usage of applications showed in mashable, techcrunch. It'll get you a lot of traffic if you tried that.

Have you thought about why you want a forum? What's your objective?

I'd agree that starting a blog, might be a better option if you want to write about a topic that interests you. You can still interact with your visitors via comments and popular blogs can earn good revenue.

if you want to start a site, blog or forum for that matter, i can give you free hosting if you want, i have hosting from netcule

I know you have a lot of first hand experience with it, but I'd try to find someone who has a lot more ''academic'' knowledge of it to help you out. Say a med student you might know or even a doctor. For example, you may know what type one and type two diabetes are. You may even know the common treatments for each are. But why are some people unable to produce insulin, often almost from birth? What forms of malnutrition cause insulin resistance? And why do pregnant women often have high blood sugar levels?

If you know the exact reason for all of that, I'll take my hat off to you. I did a project on diabetes for biology last year, and it's the reason I discontinued that science subject.

This is why I precisly gave up running a forum, because all my ideas were used up. To make up for running a forum, I am now mostly posting on other sites and applying for staff positions on others, which suit me just fine.

I'd really like to see a forum based on free MMOs out there....
