I have spent that last few months playing World of Warcraft.
I was able to raid and gear my toon. I reached an average item level of 513. This was nothing special. I was a Discipline Priest and was able to outheal other healers with ilvls (item level) of over 520+.

I did the 'Normal' raids which is above LFR (an easy-mode) and below Heroic. I reached the top 100 for ALL healers on my realm (server) and I was in the top 40 for Priests. I had over 25,000 gold, had a mount worth 25,000g and wore boots worth 25,000g.
The reason I'm mentioning all of this is because I worked really hard to achieve all of this. Being one of the top healers on my realm for Normal mode raids (the only healers above me were primarily doing Heroic raids) means that my guild (kinda like a clan) lost a valuable player.

I kinda regret it because I threw away a lot of hard work. But it's time to move on. I start college on Monday (computer science) and am embracing my social life.

So here's a video of me giving away 17,000g, about 10k in items, and deleting months worth of gear, and then deleting my character altogether.

Well you didn't need to delete it, that way all that work wouldn't be wasted, you could just come back at another time if you wanted to.

But it happens, life sucks and ruins all our fun but we just have to deal with it. You are saving yourself a bit of money now though.

Good job. It might be positive for you that you quit. More time for new things 😀 like a new addictive game xD
Just messing with you i hope you will give up on wow once and for all 😀 huge money cost :S

Quitting is definitely positive. I've made more friends in the last 24 hours than I have in the last 6 months. I know that's sad, but I made no effort to make friends when I was playing WoW / sitting depressed while I waited for college to start.

I'm super happy I quit. I plan on using my free time for an internet project, but for now I'm just going to adjust to college.
