I know there's a site where you can look up a sort of quote and find out how much your forum is worth, you know, getting a quote type thing, but I'm not sure if those are accurate or not, though.

^^ David, we have all the funding for the hosting and I make a local backup pretty often. Our host also keeps MySQL backups of the last 7 days for me. Also if I stop paying for hosting (which I won't) it just goes into debt as such.

You should have taken that offer. Your forum is no where near that amount. FP is around that much I would imagine but your board hasn't been around very long.

I agree it's not. I was asking "what would you do?" It's not whether my site is worth it, it's that I've already told my members I'm not selling. And I don't want to. I'm love operating the community etc. at ZX, and in my eyes it really is priceless.

And the traffic sucks.

For a site that's been around just over a month, 850 uniques so far this month isn't bad. Can't really expect good search engine listings yet, so we're just relying on word of mouth.

It depends, but it's quite close: 693 for August (partial month) and 467 so far for this month, so I'd say we're fairly accurate.

I think ZX has huge potential which is why perhaps it's be worth so much to him. Who knows?

Yeah, you can't really know how much time and effort someone has put into their site just by looking around at the board Some people are perfectionists and they take hours or even days to make their site look good. Not all sites are complete rush jobs, you know. It took me three days to get Chatting Time up and running, and we're still doing some minor adjustments, more mods than anything though. It's like they say, never judge a book by it's cover.

I put two years into a site for nothing in return. 3 days or several hours is hardly anything. Your site hasn't been up long, so I can say much time hasn't been put into it.

Both your forums are not comparable. You haven't attracted the same niche, or one niche isn't booming more than the other. There are plenty of factors that go into it, and if you haven't gotten anything in return, it doesn't mean Jonathon's forum isn't worth that amount to someone. The price of a forum isn't determined by what 'you' see, it's what the buyer sees so you really can't say it's not worth that amount to someone else.

And that's only for you (although that appraisal has flaws, where the software, vBulletin is already worth $150 or so). Someone else may say $200 and that guy says $3000, so it's all just personal preference.
