If you saw a wallet on a street?

I did see a wallet laying on the road down the street from my work a couple months ago. I was going to keep it but I opened it and looked at the ID and I saw that it belonged to my one of my co workers. She came back later on that night crying, worried, concerned and freaking out. I told her that I had found it and we walked out to my car so I could give it to her. She was very thankful kissed me on the cheek and gave me a big hug and then gave me $50 as a reward. It made me feel good that I did the right thing. But if it were a strangers wallet I probably wouldnt go thru the trouble of trying to track them down.

Agreed, if it was someone i knew, i would give it back.

I have found a wallet before and i handed it in to the police, no one came to collect it so i got £50 from the wallet.

Then there was another time we saw a wallet on the floor and someone taking money from it, so we went up to it after they'd gone and took the wallet, it only had credit cards and such but we took that too the police and they ended up tracking down the guy and giving it back.

We then got a letter from him saying thanks. -8)-

Someone dropped a 20 once and i kept it ~lol~

Found a specialized hardrock (mountain bike) down a back-alley, nobody had touched it for about 15 days so i took it to the police station. Someone claimed it but didn't want it, so i bought it from her for £30 ~cheesey_grin~

Yea I seem to remember that story - wish I'd been there
too.

As for the wallet - I would return it or hand it in.
I'd like to think someone else would do the same
for me too.

I have found two wallets on the floor, on seperate occasions and both times I managed to track the person down from the details inside the wallet.

I returned them by post and that was that!! There wasn't any money in either of them, someone else had already taken that, I just hoped that the person I returned it to didn't think that I had taken it!!!

I would do the same again too.

No. I'd obviously check out who it belongs to but I wouldn't take it. Imagine how you'd feel if someone did the same to you!

If I found one, I would look at the ID to see whois it was..if I didn't know them I would take it and NOT give to police, if I did know them, I would give it back.

No. What if that wallet was between losing their house and keeping it? I couldn't live with myself. I'd try as hard as I could to give it back.
