Work on getting on the Search Engines

To do this, you must find a website that brings in hundreds of leads - social media does this.
So, if you have to register to myspace, twitter, youtube, facebook, do it.

This has a double-edged sword to it; don't just put keywords, create an article that is of high quality, and they will come.

Try and use keywords in hyperlinks

This again, has a double-edged sword. Too many keyworded links will be devaluated from SE's.

Well, yeah. But it has to make sense.

KEYWORDS in your header!

Yeap.

Sitemap to submit to Google and Yahoo

Yes, but if you do not have a really good sitemap, don't bother posting it.

Promote on the Internet

This means going to websites and 'plugging' your link into profiles, or signatures.

Create keywords that match your site

This is a no-brainer.

Create and submit articles to popular article directories

This is sometimes hard to do, but once you're in, pat yourself on the back, otherwise... Prepare for a challenge.

Try and exchange links with quality sites that are in your sites niche

Yes, mutual sites exchange as if it goes hand-in-hand.

Not too many, maybe 2 or 3 keywords.

It's best to optimize hyperlinks with keywords.

Just 2 or 3 keywords, but not spam-like.

Add your sites key keywords in the first paragraph body of your text

Not a necessity, but can help in terms of what GoogleBot indexes, if it chooses to index.

Maybe 2 or 3, but no keyword stuffing.

No need, but can help if you have suddenly changed your site from a year ago.

Obvious.

Create keywords that match your site

Obvious.

Create and submit articles to popular article directories

Trivial. I'd prefer to contribute to forums and then people being interested in my links.

Try and exchange links with quality sites that are in your sites niche

It's hard to get big sites to exchange with a 2 day open website, so this is a matter of how you go about presenting your site.
