So there is always a lot of talks about driving interactions from Social Media to a website / community but I am more interested in the reverse. Currently we have a discord of 41,000 members but our social media platforms barely get any interactions or engagement on any of our posts.
I am looking for some helpful tips or ideas on how we can boost this up a bit. Increase our community engagement from our discord to our social media. Has anybody had solid success with this?
I have a little bit of experience in social media marketing.
I'm going to say it really depends on your niche. Promoting a forum like this one on social is hard, trust me, I used to be the marketing lead here and it wasn't as easy to do it, mainly because the majority of your content is promoting external links.
In order to be effective with social media marketing, you have to consistently post with a 90/10 strategy where 90% of your posts are native and 10% are promotional.
Native means content created on social media such as text-based posts, uploaded images, uploaded videos, stories, reels, and live streaming. Promotional content is anything linked to something out of the social media platform.
All social media, including so called free speech Twitter has algorithms in place to put less view weight on external links. Unless you've built a community on the platform, few will see your external links.
Most people see mine. I have a FB group that's about to hit 30K members. I have a FB page that has 13K followers. It took 6 years to build my empire but it works when I share promotional content here and there.
Native content also pays off. I get bonuses from Facebook now because of the amount of original content I post. Of course my efforts to build a community on it has allowed that to happen.
At the end of the day, if you're not willing to build separate communities on each social media platform you get on for your site, it WILL NOT work out for you.
As much as I have been on social media for a while, being able to gain engagement has always been something I have struggled with. Reading through some of these tips though I am going to try some and see what happens.
I have heard that taking advantage of the latest memes though can also help if you use a meme and make it related to your business, site or even product.
My plan is to bring people from my huge drumming Facebook page to my forum which only has around 30 members, but quite a bit of content. Anyway, I think it will work, but it's not possible without cash, cause you got to pay to boost posts.
To get more people to interact with you on social media, do things like posting regularly according to a content calendar, using relevant hashtags and keywords, interacting with your audience through comments and messages, holding contests or giveaways, working with influencers, and using paid advertising campaigns to reach more people.
