Installing phpbb3

Read the documentation in the docs folder in the phpBB file after you download it from phpBB.com. That has instructions to install it.

It's fairly simple to do (I probably install phpBB3 on my localhost 10 different times a day  ), most is explained here though -> http://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/INSTALL.html

create a db, db user / password, then you just enter the info when the installer asks for it and it's pretty much automated from their ~smile~

Just make sure you download it and do it manually using the phpBB3 installer and not fantistico, as phpBB.com doesn't support fantastico (or any other cPanel type auto-installers) phpBB3 installs.

^^Thats weird because I installed my first copy of phpBB3 with fantistico, but I had to update it myself. Ive installed it three more times since, and I dont see any issues with the auto-installed one as of now.

The problem is that to get things to install using fantastico they need to be edited slightly so that they can install quickly and because it has been edited it can introduce problems and security problems and therefore phpBB.com don't give support.

It's also that they don't use the latest version of the software sometimes which can cause security issues, bugs etc. as well.
