If your forum is enrolled in Adsense, is it enough to earn for the upkeep of the forum? Some friends have plans to put up a local forum that will be in our language. They are now in the phase of viability study on how to keep the forum afloat when the initial investment is exhausted. I cannot give them even a rough estimate because I have to admit that I have no experience with Adsense for a forum. Maybe some of you here can give a good answer.

Definitely. Also, you can massively profit. It depends on how much time and/or money put in.

There is no easy answer. On one hand, you could pour a lot of money which initially seems foolish, with hopes of having a hit (like a hit band). However, on 2nd thought, you could be more conservative with your finances and slowly build it to success.

Adsense doesn't earn you much at all. Not for small website's

If a nation where UK etc. money is worth a lot has a website which advertises to the UK etc.., then wouldn't the website make a lot from low traffic?

Grow your traffic and DA (domain authority) and try to get listed on MatomySEO (ex- Text Link Ads) and LinkWorth. Their payment is way better than what you get with adsense.

It could, it all depends on how much site traffic they get. But they shouldn't expect to make a profit from it in the beginning. Maybe they could have better luck if they find some more local publishers or affiliate programs?

Aren't those sites involved in black hat SEO? If Google finds out you're using such programs they will punish your site ranking.

It depends. At one time, I had a forum that had between 1000-2000 posts that went inactive, and I left adsense on it, and had multiple times over the year, where I was able to earn up to $10 a day without any regular user activity going on. It is possible to earn money from a forum through adsense, but the best way to ensure that you earn enough to cover costs of hosting, is to have a active userbase.

The revenue totally depends on the traffic you get. I personally don't think we could have much earnings from Adsense for forums.

I am on the fence with that one. Personally I think its always a good idea to add your own banners and advertisements in the mix on any website you run.

Until they 'find out', you can earn some money. I've been using these for 10 years already with no problems

My only real experience with Adsense was on employment blogs. At the time (around 2010) self-done SEO was good and I was getting around 100 a month from it - along with Indeed.com which was paying affiliate stuff of around 200 USD (I think).

Not at all, unfortunately. If your forum is big and is getting a lot of traffic then it can definitely be a great source of revenue. But for a relatively new forum, AdSense is not that great an option.

But it's possible to have a big forum with no traffic and that thing is common on here (FP). It's because it's relatively easy to build a community with little cash (post exchanges, writing for credits on paid post services).

Yeah. That is with I said "and is getting a lot of traffic". A big forum with no traffic like you said will obviously not be making anything from AdSense.

Some are using affiliate exchanges, but exchanges with other forums with nothing won't do much I don't think. However, I'm not trying to discourage the practice.

to earn some good amount you need to have like 10,000 traffic each day to able to get an good amount

For employment niche, what I was in before, 100 or so a day would earn about $300 a month - and more visitors than that was something spectacular. But that did happen one time as a biz partner did some press release so I had something to brag on Facebook that day. 🙂

That's insane cause I'm betting that would be around $3,000 a day to pay for. It could be somewhat less - but as that still wouldn't mean much, LOL.

that was the day with 100, not the case anymore? I mean I might get 100 in a day or two but doesn't get to the full amount.

even then it's hard to have to keep 100 traffic a day.

What has changed so much since back then?
