I think Instagram could be useful for promoting content related to photography, painting, and art since Instagram is a photo sharing social network with a color filter theme.

It is also be useful for content related to young people, teens, and youth culture since a lot of young people use Instagram.

You need photos to upload to Instagram, and add filters to them with the Instagram app for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone. You can also take photos with the Instagram app, and add filters to them from Instagram.

You can share your website link to your content in your Instagram profile.

A lot of people are using Instagram nowadays because it is so easy to upload and share pictures. Also the # system is great because people will search for a certain topic and if you have lots of content in that topic you will gain tons of traffic from that.

True. But what you have to realise is, this would result in a mass exodus from their site.
No site would commit PR suicide as such.

Instagram is useful if you manage to keep updating on a regular basis. I sometimes see businesses who fail to do that and seem to loose interest very quickly which results in less interaction with visitors.

I am sure if you are promoting a site that is related to photography or art, it's fine. However, anything else maybe a little difficult just because what would you post on Instagram? Like what would FP post if they had an Instagram? Anything else might be a little odd. Public figures get away with it mainly because they can post anything and have their followers like it.
