Is there a forum genre you won’t join?

As long as a forum has a general section, I’m fine joining any genre. For me it has more to do with the owner than the forum itself. If the Staff are toxic, even if it’s a good forum, I usually don’t go back.

I'm really picky about what forum I join. I've left forums that I was a staff member on just because I wasn't happy with how things were playing out. Very rarely do I find a community that I can 100% get along with.

I won't join Forums that are about one-sided genres or Forums about gay people they talk about what they can do to their bodies. Then again don't join forums that you just won't agree with 🙂

I have joined many forums that are good but the subject is what I'm no good with, end up posting in the general section. But I have been involved with a mixed bag of people in my time and had to deal with toxic staff members. I was a moderator of a gaming forum many years ago the owner was very toxic and very disrespectful.

Pollical forums are one, those will never end well for anyone involved.
Also there's Resetera, that's not a good place at all.

I won’t join forums that post inappropriate content, such as adult content or illegal content.

I enjoy webmaster forums, promotion forums, and gaming forums the most. They seem to have great communities I’ve seen.

I don't join adult forums. It's not my thing. I'm generally a family-friendly sort of person and I try to stay away from those topics.

Unless I am doing an exchange, I try not to join political debate forums. I don't like to debate at all.

I can think of two forums I'd never join because both are dedicated to making people's lives a misery. One is Kiwi Farms, the other I won't name because it's populated by forum admins.

Both fall into the same niche or genre but I'm not sure how to describe it.

I hate Kiwi Farms, they're a terrible community. Any community that harms others by doxxing them, or just being rude are a no go for me. Also any political forum, I'm more liberal than conservative and any time I would debate with some conservatives they end up calling other people names if the debate doesn't go their way. (Not all conservatives are like that, there are even liberals that do that! I just seen it more from one side...)

I avoid forums that prominently promote illegal activity. Nulled software forums come to mind.

I have been on all sorts of forums from gambling forums to LGBTQ forums, I have nothing against any niches as long as they do not promote illegal activities, or are extremely racist.

I guess the one forum that I will not join is a political forum if I am honest. I hate to get into any kind of discussions especially heated ones about politics because of how quickly they can get out of hand when someone doesn't agree with your opinion. Other than that I will join almost any forum and be active as long as I like the community, the forum is run well and it's a clean and nice-looking forum for me to navigate. As long as I feel I can contribute to the forum as a member of the forum then I will join.
