I recently applied to become a DMOZ editor.
Now, my application was rejected which was disappointing.
What was very unfortunate, though, was their reason for rejecting.
I mean...is this how you treat your editors DMOZ? If so, just forget it.

 Angry reviewers these days.
Can you also, post the application you filled out and sent to DMOZ?

No. As I didn't screenshot that. I got a confirmation email though, but it doesn't contain the content of the application (as you'll notice if/when you ever decide to apply). In case you're wondering though, my application was perfectly genuine. Not that I'm particularly fussed that I got rejected, it's more the reason they gave for rejecting me which I find a bit out of order. I'm sure not all editors are like that. But I am surprised about what happened, none the less. 😎

The reviewer was generally out of order and very disrespectful. He needs to take a course in constructive criticism 101.

I would post that on other admin forums, especially ones that reccomend that people list their sites on DMOZ, to get them some negative publicity, overwhelming applications or not, there is something to be said for professionalism or the lack thereof in this instance.

As for being shocked, I wouldn't be, there are assholes everywhere. The internet just gives them a place to hide.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I don't see anything particularly rude or wrong in their reply? They aren't saying the listed reasons apply to you, nor are they insulting you. They're just listing the most common reasons for applications being rejected.

Read the very last line in the screenshot.

The guy who reviewed my application has something to say. :O
He accuses me of being a lier. He's the biggest one of them all!

Have you posted it on TAZ?

Besides, what would you gain from lying about this?

Like they say, a hit dog will bark.

Exactly. Like I was just explaining to a friend on Skype, I could have wasted my time using photoshop, conjuring up a pile of falsities to counterattack the fact I was rejected but I've got better things to do. In case you're wondering, view the guys signature link. He looks like 65. You'd have thought someone his age would have a little more respect.

He, has every reason to lie, whether it be to cover his ass or out of embarrassment over this situation.

He could've said that he was having a bad day, which does happen, and apologized and that would have been it.

Don't let the age fool you. Some of the biggest assholes I've seen here, (not FP, but in general) were of the older variety. They like to start sh-- up with people, and then play the "respect your elders" or "helpless victim" card when you return their courtesy.

My belief is that respect is a two-way street and if you want respect, you've got to earn it.. but if you come at me, then I'm coming right back at you.

Maybe I'm a little insensitive here, but I laughed a lot. In reality, that's pretty uncalled for, and it's kind of weird that he would be so rude to someone he has never had any prior experience with. I'm interested to see how he tries to defend himself on a public stage past what he already has.

The guys an idiot but he makes out that everyone else is the idiot.

-- 10 Aug 2013, 10:56 --

Just an update guys, check the DP topic I linked to above.
The editors are ganging up on me making me appear a liar.
I've reported the topic to staff and requested thread deletion.
But do have a read of the "words" they use to fight my proof.
