Kicking Off Your Forum Without Paid Forum Posting!

Jay, nice article!
I have an idea for your next article.
Write about your own opinions and experiences with different forums. Im sure you have seen a lot of different forums. I am not asking you to point your finger to any forum, just generally what do you like the most and what are the biggest mistakes and dislikes for YOU. And what are you looking for in new forums and what would make you to join a new forum.
You are running a successful forum? If yes, I would love to read about how you started, where you got the idea, who helped you, how long you have worked with it and so on. With your personal feelings in it.

Thanks!

I'm currently working on one for the blog, and I'll post the suggestion above on the weekend.

Thanks for the great feedback guys, really do appreciate it!

I actually think DP has too many ads. It bugs me. They should just show ads only to guests or remove them from the header.

They're a good marketing technique, the ones in the header don't affect it's performance but the in-thread ones are annoying.

Great tutorial. I've been using EasyHits4U for a day now but it only gets me traffic and not members...I've been using 1:1 exchange.

Try using the 2:1 exchange. It'll take the same amount of time (or a little bit longer) and you'll see far better results.

You're welcome guys.

It's not against the TOS, because advertisers pay per click, not impression.

Your amount of traffic doesn't affect advertisers, just the amount of clicks.
Sorry but it is against Google TOS.

This is from the EasyHits4U site:
Please avoid submissions of sites with AdSense ads to any traffic exchange. This is against Google AdSense Program Policies and may result in cancellation of your Google AdSense account.

Great article, just one question. I've never used Digg, Google BookMarks, or stubleupon and I'm sure they work great, are those the top three sites or are there more?

I don't like any of these tips. Personally, if you have a good niche, google is all you need.

I have seen these tips all over the place and to be honest no one on this forum follows them for some odd reason. And they always tell you my forum is dead or it got closed due to inactivity.

It takes months, years and maybe longer to build up a forum on a hard niche. Everyone you think of has already been thought up of.

Good effort. 😉

Looks like a nice guide. I hope to use some of these strategies to get my forum up and running.

Wow this is a great tutorial/article! Thanks for putting your time and effort into it. It is greatly appreciated! 🙂

Great article and amazing information.

Thank you for the tips and tricks I will definitely use them.

thank you for posting them.
