Well, long story short, I've basically dropped out of school. My mom is not-surprisingly upset. Since I still live with her, she's of course threatening to kick me out. Well, y'know what, I don't care if she boots me out. I'll die on the streets then

When we were discussing it, she said 'they don't care if you learn anything, it's to show you learned discipline.' Now THAT further dropped my going back to school rate. I don't need discipline. What interested me the most was the fact that 'they don't care if you learn anything'. Now, I'm not sure how true that is in the real world, but in my book, it's 100% true.

For me, I've learned nothing in school. If anything, I've learned more from the internet than any other place.

I second this...

I always tell my fellow debaters who think they know everything...you don't bring your degree with you when you die...everything stays!

:great:

Another thing is, you will NEVER use the majority of the crap they teach.

And the majority of the crap they teach is biased anyways, so, lol... :great:

Hahahaha.

Thinking about it more - the majority of what they teach in school you can learn online. The only reason they still have school is to attempt to force us to learn this.

Also, seeing as we could learn this online, they make us go to school because it's boring. They know if we were to attempt to learn this while using our personal computers, we'd have music and Myspace/Facbook going.

I know a few professors in arizona I highly don't reccommend, simply for the fact they wouldn't debate me and/or answer most of my questions I would throw at them, namely the "So What?" question, lol

I wish we have a few so called "teachers" or "proffessors" on here so I can debate them, they seem to stick with each other, lol

Have you read the crap they have in the 'textbooks'

Why should I have to pay $100+ for lies!

I won't get into which 'lies' I'm talking about, only that, if you teach one thing that has yet to be proven as fact, at least teach the alternatives!

:great:

Same situation right here. Except I am not getting kicked out as I am going to college and have a job.

I say to you, get into a good college or you will have a terrible life.

Also research your teacher's backgrounds and education before you register for their class and spend $200+

If you can find a teacher who teaches with an open mind, even better! :great:

How old are you?

I think that qualificiations in the UK at least are considered very important and maybe too much so... but I do value an education.

I graduated from high school 2 years ago. Trust me, you'll be happier having at least a high school diploma, because there are quite a few jobs now days that require at least a high school diploma.

I have only had a few classes in high school that expanded my knowledge. Most of them were Spanish classes. 😉

I love the way that other people do all the busy work in high school and get their 4.0 GPAs thinking that it will actually prepare them for college or anything else in life.

History class is especially biased. It's taught merely for the purpose of brainwashing kids. USA GOOD! CAPITALISM GOOD! COMMUNISM BAD!

I love to expand my knowledge on various subjects, doing the research myself is easier, quicker, and FREE!

I'm all for education and research...the 'opend-ended' kind. :great:

School= Barren wasteland where you learn nothing.

Computer= Place populated by billions of people where you learn very little.

Street= Enough education to keep you alive for 100 years.

Happier why? Because I wasted countless hours going to a builder where half the girls were pregnant, and the majority of the boys think "gangs r kool yo". No. School is just a waste of time.

You don't learn anything in school but you still need that degree. Many employers require college education. The most important thing is if you don't go to school then find a trade. Also, network with a lot of people and I mean a lot. Thsoe people can end up being your business partner or boss one day, you never know...
