Learning in school means nothing, it's just the discipline

College isn't as bad as high school, though; I'm hoping to go to a liberal arts school so that I can focus on deeper thinking rather than blind memorization. It's one thing to be able to memorize a bunch of things for the test (only to immediately forget afterwards). Understanding why things are the way they are is another matter entirely. THAT is true learning. Unfortunately, high school focuses more on the blind memorization than the deeper thinking (i.e. real learning).

When we were discussing it, she said 'they don't care if you learn anything, it's to show you learned discipline.' Now THAT further dropped my going back to school rate. I don't need discipline. What interested me the most was the fact that 'they don't care if you learn anything'. Now, I'm not sure how true that is in the real world, but in my book, it's 100% true.

For me, I've learned nothing in school. If anything, I've learned more from the internet than any other place.

Well needless to say I learn more discipline in band than I have anywhere else before. School teaches you things if you put your self forth. How do you think you learned to add??
 
I agree with you there, General Christmas. Hence why i am hopefully leaving school next year (I applied for a course else where, hopefully i get it)

The whole school system is screwed now days, the majority of people don't learn anything.
 
I think being in our own learning environments would be easier, if they let us listen to music, but not play games and we got our work done, I think people would appreciate a good education more, no one likes school because of how out of place you feel sitting in a room with 20 people with the teachers environment, wouldnt you rather be listening to music and learning.
 
High school to me is nothing more than playground..You meet and greet new people and make friends. I learned everything they teach before I even attended the school. Having to stay in class when you're done with everything is crap. You are basically wasting half of your day sitting doing nothing. I'm not sure whether it is the management or the teachers, but they do treat you like kids where you have to do exactly what they said for you to do.

College however, I most certainly like. My professors are cool. They treat us the way we should be treated. They do not care whether you are there or not. You are the one who is responsible for your attendance and grades.
 
I don't like school that much but I have to say I learn lot of things from school and it has done more then teach me. I start getting into World History and meet good people because of school. It aslo has changed me from the little kid who just want to have fun and doesn't care if he get F on everything to the smart person who want to have fun but learn at the same time.
 
Isn't it a little stupid to judge something that you haven't even seen the final product of?

Once you enter your final stages of life...then you can say if school sucks or not. Don't say it now because you're only going to justify your decision with whatever justification you so desire, simply because you want to make sure your ideals fit your actions (cognitive dissonance).

School is an investment. You don't invest money then say "that was a waste of money" then take out your money 2 days later. You wait until it matures and when it's time to take out the money, you're rich.

School isn't everything, but it's important. I know MANY employers who say if they saw on a person's resume that they didn't complete high school, they wouldn't even hire the person.

High school is a joke. If you can't complete high school, then chances are (and note I say CHANCES) you're not gonna be much, unless you already had a lot going for you and that's why you had to drop out.

Course there are exceptions but there's always exceptions...and that's all they are exceptions. You can think all you want that you're gonna be the one that defies all expectations, but that's just the gambler's fallacy.

As long as we remain human, aside from 'greivous' of course 😛 will still have to eat food, drink liquid and use toilet paper, and the safest way to purchase them is with your own earned money.

Before the job market began to slim, I use to take classes for the sole enjoyment of debating my teachers, lol, now F%*@ it!

I already have an awesome job!

Also remember, the bigger the house you own, the larger the bills, the more furniture to purchase, the longer you must walk around inside to get from point a to point b, etc...

When you die, your house stays!
your degree stays!
your education stays!
It all stays!

Though as I said earlier, we still need toilet paper, toothpaste, food, etc...so in that aspect, a job to provide an adequet income is helpfull!

I laugh at those who wave their papered degrees and crap around, I also laugh when I tell them they still need to crap and put clothes on like the rest of us.

I'm all for education though!
Just use your inner sense...do you really need that "Master degree in Quantem Theoritics" for a store manager position, lol

Dropping out is a very stupid mistake (if you are in college then thats a different story as you can go back later and at least you have a high school diploma).

I was kicked out when I was 18.. I graduated high school though.
I needed that tough love to turn me into a responsible person instead of being a disrespectful immature defiant disobedient f**k up that I was..
If I were your mom, I would kick you out. Seems like you need the reality check about now.
 
High School is joke. Its easy to pass it, its just many students don't care. All you learn is what is right from wrong and chances of remembering everything that you learned years later is very slim
