Linux

Tried it, hated it. I used Ubuntu 10.10.. Hated it. Absolutely hated it's guts... if it had guts..

I have used it for several years and can say it will never be good for desktop use. Especially with unprofessional distros like ubuntu.

infact the only half way done right distros are Opensuse And Mandriva.

I use Ubuntu 10.10 which works for most of my needs like browsing the web with Firefox and Google Chrome, doing word proccessing with Open Office, recording sound with audacity, image editing with Gimp, listening to music, and watching videos with VLC media player, FTP uploading and downloading with FileZilla, Making HTML websites with Kompozer, and doing screencasts with RecordMyDesktop.

But, there are not enough native games, or easy to use video editing software for Linux which is my main complaint and, there are fewer hardware devices which is compatible for Linux compared to Windows, and Mac.

However, using Ubuntu 10.10 seems a lot faster on my computer with only a 1.8 GHz CPU and 1 GB of RAM then using the same computer to run Windows Vista Home Premium or 7 Home Premium 32bit which runs kind of slow on my PC which tends to suffer from performance problems if I have too many programs open in Windows 7 or Vista.

The start up, shut down, general performance, and stability of Ubuntu 10.10 seems a lot faster then Windows 7 Home Premium on my older computer.

Why did you hate it? Could elaborate on your reasoning for others to take note of?

I've used Ubuntu, Cent, Red Hat, Fedora, and SUSE distributions and find each to their own offering.
Mainly used in server environments with our line of work, we do have a few Linux based desktops within the office.

Well he obviously must love botnets, keyloggers, and other fun things.

Ive been using Puppy Linux for the past week as my main OS. I also have Ubuntu installed but it doesn't get as much use out of me.
