Not all of them do the same thing.
YSlow checks how long your page takes to load, and then tells you why it takes that long.
SEO Quake gives you a ton of information about the site you are viewing. For example, it shows you the Alexa rank of the site (Note: this will only be accurate if you have your own registered domain, e.g, Zyetendo.com.), it tells you if the page you are viewing is in the internet archive, the amount of internal and external links, and a bunch of other stuff.

People say the Alexa Sparky contains spyware...

It doesn't really contain spyware but some anti spyware programs might see it as spware because of the way it works.
