Looking for any tips for improving my music blog!

Foxbeard Music is a blog for folk, americana, bluegrass and more. I mainly feature up and coming artists. Been blogging for about a a year and a half, and have about 105 posts.

I'm hoping some of you guys can take a look at my site and give me any tips you might have in increasing the traffic, improving the site look, maybe some ways to make some money etc.

First off, your site loaded really slow for me just now. My internet has been running fine today, so it's definitely on your end.

Now, I like your theme, but without any sort of container around (most of) your content, everything is really float-y and it's a bit hard to look at, it almost looks incomplete. If you have permission/know how to edit this theme, add a lighter wrap around your content. If not, I'd look for another theme (not sure if this is custom or not, but a custom one might be nice).

You've got a nice blog otherwise, good luck. 🙂

Thanks guys, I updated the theme over the last day. Hopefully that will speed things up a bit. Now that I've changed the theme any feedback to make it look a bit folkier?

The bear that follows me as I scroll down/up was very distracting and annoying. I found that the site overall looked amazing and was easy to navigate. Yet this bear just bothered me.


I like how when I click on a video it opens a page and plays immediately. That's nice - Some sites will show a play button, but won't actually play the video...Which can be irritating (I'm a fast paced person lol).


I'd like to see more of a Bio. If you check out www.pandora.com, you'll notice that the biographies for each artist are paragraphs long. They're awesome, detailed and informative. I'm not saying you need an essay for each artist, but more than a paragraph would be awesome.

I hope that this review helped you - I didn't hit on the design aspects much because I think you've succeeded at making a beautiful website. For now, I think your priority should be features, site speed, and advertising.

One last thing. Your favicon still shows up as the default Wordpress icon. I use Chrome, on a Mac. You should change this to give your site some identity 😀
