Do you think it is a good idea to limit downloading attachments to users who have 5 posts? I do have around 1000 attachments.

*Let people download attachments after they register an account.
*Use a thanks system before they can download attachment.

I would only allow members to download attachments and would probably allow them to after x amount of post.
I had this issue years ago when I had a download section and I would get tons of new accounts and no content. They would make an account just to download. So, I had to set it up so they had x amount of post to access downloads. The problem arises here because you might get spammers posting one word post just to hit that number.
Thanks for the reply, I've thought about one word posts as well. In order to make a post though, they have to use at least 35 characters, any less and they get a error message saying that the post isn't long enough.
I woulds say that if they want to download an files they have to post in the topic to able to download. Like post to unlock and files. Also something like reviews, they only can download so much a day or each day and also once they have downloaded 10 or 20 they have to make an review before downloading again
