I believe you can set the vast majority of plugins to auto-update, so long as you have a valid license attached to the particular plugin. It takes time, but I'd rather manually upgrade one by one. Things sometimes break, and it's easier to identify the problem that way.
I've been watching tutorials for WordPress and they recommend doing automatic updates. I guess part of the reason that my church website broke at times was because the secretary didn't update some of them? Possibly?
Since I don't have time to monitor and go through on a regular basis and do manual updates, I just let the WP Manager in cPanel Automatically update everything, hasn't done me wrong yet. I also only have it do important and major updates.
