Hi, I have a new forum and I already have spam bots. How to remove /ban them and ensure this doesn't happen again ?

Need urgent help pls!

No matter what size forum you have, or what you do, you will face the occasional spambot. Just delete their account and move on. There are some precautions which I'm sure can be taken, but I'm unfamiliar with phpBB, so I can't help you there.

First step is do not use the default GD CAPTCHA provided by phpBB. That is old and can be solved easily by software like Xrumer.

Use the Q&A and set a question that is not able to be answered to Google (so don't ask 2+2=? for example. The best thing to do is try and ask something unique to your forum or the topic of your forum. That will make it harder for bots o guess or work out.

That is the easiest and quickest thing you can do.

Ah.. I had infact used 2+2 lol. Lame ol trick.
Will try another question.

As 'Fowler' suggested above, no matter what Captcha you use, there are paid services out there to help bots. I have even seen humans solving captcha to get paid. So, there is no point using that. Use questions & answers and choose a question that is related to your forum. Obviously not a lame question would help, but something that needs a brain to answer.

I have applied the same tactic at my forum, and believe me there is NO spam

Q&A works on phpbb, you need to give time in learning all the things, phpbb provides good support in their forum.
