Hello,

We are delighted to advise crunch-host will be moving over to our new datacentre at Softlayer.com some time this week this brings us optimum redundancy and we are delighted to have been offered the chance to move to them.

What this means for me?

You will now be placed on a server with x2 the RAM and processing power if you are a shared/reseller customer and 6x if a VPS customer. This also gives us more control as it is our own servers in the rack and with Softlayers management panel we can reboot automaticly without the need to wait for a support rep to do so.

RAID 1 - We are now utilizing RAID protection on our drives, this means the 2 hard drives in our server are mirror images of each other, and in the event of HDD failure, your data will still be online/secure.

I have a Shared/Reseller/VPS customer with you, what will I have to do?

Good question - read the below.

FreeShared/Reseller customer using a yourdomain.crunch-host.com subdomain - You will not have to do anything, when we switch over our server to the new ones you will be moved over automaticly.

Free Shared/Reseller customer using my own domain? - We will issue you an email to the address we have on file for you advising you of the Nameservers & IP addresses, the nameservers will be the same so you should not have much downtime other than DNS propegation. You will be given 5 days advanced notice of the switchover but we will transfer all your files for you.

Free VPS Client - Nothing currently, we will announce plans next month as this is a big move due to the sheer amount of IP addresses we have to shift in our pool, this will most likely be done in phases.

What is the new network like?
