Newsletters - Are they worth the effort?

I used to regularly send out newsletters to update members on the latest happenings around my forum. I started highlighting different posts around the forum to try and generate engagement but I'm not entirely convinced that it worked.

Do you regularly send newsletters? What do you include? How often do you send them out?

I did from the start, then after a while, I gave up and see no point.

1. Using server resources to receive and send.
2. When sending, turns out to be that only 10% of emails did get sent, others came back rejected or members declined
3. Was bad putting it together anyway 😛

Agreed! Newsletters can be really useful as long as they don't end up in spam - great for sharing updates and announcements with users

I don't do newsletters but I have mass emailed members when it was i.e. the year's anniversary. Kind of a little nudge to remind them they are a member lol
I guess I rather put the highlights out on the forum. Then it can be there for all to read, including guests.
