Never been there so I don't know. Anyway, I know at least 3 people from NYC online, two from this forum (One being the active member @Smokey.).

So it looks good and it must be really different than just some amateur slapping a hot dog together!

OK, what are some other NYC street foods?

A hot dog from the streets of Manhattan is awesome! Dirty water dogs are the best type of dogs. 🙂

The pizza is also very good, there's a bunch of other stuff being sold by the venders on nearly every corner, only things i've had was a hot dog and pizza, but i hear the gyro venders are pretty solid. 🙂

Like any city food, aren't always going to be healthy. full of greasy. Can it be good? depends where you eat and what you have

Those shish-ka-bobs in the tourist section of Seoul (Itaewon District) were something to remember. Anyway, over there they also had these boiled eggs and they'd have salt packs with them. Sounds cheesy, but they were pretty good.

I usually go to the Halal carts on NYC Streets. There are a couple of well known ones, and I think they're excellent. As long as you know where to eat, which pretty much requires experimenting, you should be good to go.

I think individuals running their own cart would be more interested in pleasing the customer than some guy working for a fast food wage.

Definitely, the guys working in the carts usually own the cart so they have much more interest in pleasing the customer than some disgruntled fast food restaurant employee.

Depends on which vendor you buy from. Like everything else in life, some vendors are great, some decent, some pretty bad. My favorite vendors are:

Nuts 4 Nuts: They sell honey roasted peanuts. Delicious!
Hot Pretzel: Giant hot pretzels dashed with salt and topped with mustard. Awesome!

What's changed in NYC street vendoring now versus years ago is the diversity of choices. So many different ethnicities are now sharing their cultural best with New Yorkers through food trucks and food carts. From El Salvadorian, to Mexican, Jamaican, etc.

I live part-time in Queens. We don't have much street food in my neighborhood, but we do have the "hole in the wall" restaurants. In my experience, they have some of the best food in the area. Certainly better than most restaurants in Memphis.

I loved the street food when I visited NYC last year! Cannot beat a hot dog and pretzl when walking through central park haha. I know it's not fully street food but the $1 pizza slices? Oh lord.

Those $1 pizza slices are still amazing. I tend to go there at least once a week for lunch. I pay around $3.50 for 2 slices and a soda. 😛

I'm wondering if such a biz would actually work in a small town or small city.
