Offline Marketing in Promoting Your Forum

Has Anyone Tried making Flyers and posting them around to promote your forum ? did it work ? what did u do ?

In the elections of 2013, a friend who was campaigning for one senatorial candidate did that. He pasted makeshift posters in their neighborhood and gave out flyers to passers by in order to gain Likers to his candidate's Facebook page. We had a good laugh when we learned about it because obviously, promoting something in the internet is not done that way anymore. Much better is to promote it online in whatever venue you prefer but not offline... unless you have the money to spend for a giant billboard in the boulevard.
