Right now this is literally just a thought but I decided some opinions would be great.

See the positive and negatives people see.

Anyway, the merge is PromotionBB.com and AdminCentral.org

Opinions?

Why are you trying to merge it?
When I was in a forum the owner had 3 forums with 20,000 members each.It was hard for him to stay on all three forums and maintain them so he merged them.Do you have any problems like him?

In a sense I am but I can also handle it. It's more the fact, of it bring up one bigger community and could focus on the one and get it as far as possible.

AS I said, its only a thought, this probably won't happen.

I don't like forums merging, but if you created both forums from scratch I wouldn't mind. I just don't support people going out and buying databases and "cheating".

AdminCentral was from scratch. PromotionBB used to be PromotionDen but it is a whole new thing since then and much has changed so it's a bit in the middle I guess.

Dob what you feel like, man.
The best would be to ask the members.
Gove them the list of benefits and downfalls.
If they will keep they accounts and have more discussion.
maybe one of them will get a forum software upgrade...
I don't know let them know why you think its is a good idea.

What are the risks and let them have an opinion of it.
even if it is still on the "I am considering it as a vague possibility so this may not happen" idea.

It will work if both communities are fine with and support the merge. Otherwise, you should ask the question, "why do it?"

^ This!

If it affects 2 separate communities you're running, it shouldn't be only your decision, let alone ours to decide/suggest for you when most of us aren't involved in the sites you're merging. Take it to your members, and let them weigh in on the pros & cons.

Thank you for all the input.

The reason I asked here because I figured a 3rd past perspective couldn't hurt.

I am slowly getting some user feedback.

My basic idea would to have an admin community where you can promote, get a post package, review and maybe some small advertising areas but not so it's focused on promotion. I feel this would help cater for all levels of forum administrators.

Newer admins wouldn't feel so in the middle of stuff they may not know understand as much yet, like the people who have just opened their first forum. They can get help around the community whilst getting the bonus of having those few services.

And for the more experienced admins they still have everything else that the community offers and a forum review can never hurt your forum no matter how old as well as maybe they decide to create a new forum and think "hey, I can get a post package over at AdminCentral for some starting content".

There's still a lot of things to way up about it and a lot of it is just "ideas and thoughts" but all in all I do believe it could be good.
