What's your opinion on the following domains for a gaming forum?

ZODM.com
JJ4.com

Thanks!

Depends on what they stand for really 😉

One I would think of for a Call of Duty site would be CODElite.net or something like that.

I don't think it would work out.

Well I was just giving my opinions on it 😉
As was he, nothing he said implies he was referring to your post.

You can brand either one, but they need to stand for something otherwise they're irrelevant for any board. I love their shortness though.

If the gaming niche matches the domain, then it is cool to go forward with the domain.

Thanks everyone, I always thought Zodm would be a good name for a gaming site. Seems like not everyone agrees 🙂

zodm isn't too bad of a domain name for a gaming site to be honest! Maybe if you added another vowel to make a word. Zodem, zodam, zodom, etc. Maybe then it would catch on!

Nothing, that I'm aware of.

And there's your problem.

No one's going to associate these names with gaming, and as you just said yourself, anything at all.

That's where branding comes in. Branding is why people associate "Google" with search, "Amazon" with books, "eBay" with auctions, etc.

Assuming you can market it to that level of recognition.

Ditto.

In my personal opinion, you can't have a valid argument using that point. Sure it is a good point, however what you forget is that when majority of modern days branded sites (with no affiliation to their content) were created, there was rarely any decent competition out there. Before Google, where did we search? Before eBay, where could we buy stuff internationally and have it sent to our door within a few weeks, without dealing with a cooperation, etc.

Hence why, whenever we think "search the web" Google comes to mind, as does for eBay with buying and selling, etc.

There were quite a few good search engines before Google - Yahoo, Altavista, etc. Saying that your point is valid, things are a lot more competitive these days.

Why do people always think letters in a domain name have to mean something? Look at WWE for instance, they used to be World Wrestling Entertainment but have now switched to using WWE as it stands.

ZODM.com looks great and is easy to remember. I'd go for that one.

ZODM sounds like a great domain, JJ4 doesn't seem like gaming to be honest.

Zero Observation Damn Man

The tale behind that name could be:

Who cares how others game? Each gamer games on his/her own way in her/his own style.

LOL, its the best I can come up with.

I know it sounds stupid.
