Pirate Party UK is Official

I just don't understand why some people are so against new business models. I can understand the industry, because they fear they may not make as much and might have to sell off a car or two, but people completely unrelated to either the industry or the artists that think they know what's best?

I am a pirate, and that gives me a bond to the industry.

What's that got to do with copyright laws? silly person. Spam-ahoy?

It wasnt spam it was supposed to show that if you feel that you should get music for free then why cant i get a free flight. Plus this topic isnt even about copyright laws but rather about a Pirate Party brought into the UK.

^And then I showed that you can get a flight for free if you think outside the box. Which also relates back the the original topic, the Pirate Party and how they have new ideas and a new outlook on things.

I think this is a bit well, odd. Politicians are meant to run our country, if computer piracy is their main priority then i can't see them getting big and don't want them running the country. 😕

Mind you, if they don't claim for more expenses than they've had to pay then maybe i'll consider them as an improvement

It's not a new business model. It's making it legal to steal. I don't know why you can't see that.

And I don't see why you can't see that it's not about stealing, it's about the fact that the laws MUST change with the technology or 61% of UK people ages 14-22 are going to be in jail, and then the government has to find a way to pay to house all those people.

The pirate party is more about the young generation vs. the old ways of things. As someone wisely spoke: you can not convict a whole generation of citizens and send them to jail for being the young new generation doing what they do best - break the rules and force society to evolve beyond the limits older generations imposed.

Digital technology makes the line between online "property" almost non-real. The laws will be forced to change and make that line clearer, and the Industry as well as the artists will need to change as well, or people will just find new ways of getting around the laws.

Good. They deserve to go to jail. They broke the law and stole. That's all I have to say.

Morally mate, I see where you're coming from. Honestly, I know that as kids we were taught our parent's ways of deciding right from wrong, and all that jazz. Keep in mind that the morals that we have now are extremely different in many ways than the morals we had years ago. There is more lieing, cheating, ect going on today than every before. As the generations develop over time, these morals shift as well. I don't see it as stealing from the artist if the artist isn't the one getting paid for it anyway. I don't see how ISP's can be held responsible for the people that misuse their system. I look around and I don't see Ford being sued because a drunk driver killed someone, and that's MUCH more extreme (you'd think that a death would weigh more morally than a copyright.. right?)

It is completely impractical to send more than half of all teenagers to jail. It is at that point that the law itself needs to be adjusted. That's the point of a democracy, to listen to what the majority of people say and do, correct?

The majority of people don't want it to be legal to steal. If you polled the entire country and not just 12-16 year old kids you'd realize that.

The fact is when these kids get older and understand business ( you one of them I'm sure ) they'll be able to comprehend that it's just not plausible to make it legal to steal off the Internet. Do you know what would happen to companies?

Well if you have been listening to Leo, most of the companies would be fine as there would be new ways of income for them so their profits would not change.

Also do you know what it would do to the WORLD if all of our youth are in jail? 😉

No, they wouldn't be fine. Sorry, but if you made it legal to steal video games online or movies online, companies that create video games and movies and such would crash and make total crap quality things.

I'm going to make this clear and put it bluntly.

No one gives two shits about the Pirate Party in the UK and they aren't going to go into power in the UK. They would no way in hell be decent leaders of this country.

No one here in the UK wants them to be leading, and no one cares what you have to say Ghost to be perfectly honest... all the people in the UK including myself would rather a more established party who will actually do a decent job. Not a party who's sole aim is to make illegal downloads legal which will result in reduced quality of media.

Plus if people download things illegally, it is stealing, and if people are in jail for it, tough shit. They shouldn't have done it in the first place, they are fully aware what they are doing is illegal. It doesn't matter if it might be not in proportion to other crimes and their punishments, but they know what they are doing is illegal so they are punishing themselves. :|

Well I live in the UK and I actually did a poll in the street, yes I did one! and actually 90% of them said YES, they would vote for the pirate party. Win one for Team Ghost?

Doesn't mean anything... I get the impression you put yor point across in a biased way. If you asked ''What political party would you like to see in charge?'' they wouldn't have answered the Pirate Party, and no way in hell did you ask the question above.

Exactly, in the street. Did you ask adults, old people? Or people you know. If you asked the WHOLE of the UK the result would be so low more people would want the BNP.

Did you also explain to them the consequences if they came into power?

Probably not if an alleged 90% said yes.

The question was 'What party would you like to be in charge of the UK?', It was on the street and I only took answers from people ages 16 and above. I stated there was a pirate party also that are trying to make it legal to download movies and music for free. Many people of all ages did do it and most of them I don't know personally nor asked people I know to do the poll. Also 1 cop did it and voted pirate party... kinda says something there! Next question!

See you didn't make the survey fair... seems like you didn't say the pros of any other party, and didn't mention that this would result in significantly lower quality of movies etc.

How was it not fair? The other parties have been around for ages, they should know by now to be honest. Also I don't see any 'pros' in the other parties that are stealing ax payers money and claiming for their porno rentals... but that's just me. It won't lower the qualities of movies as the party have WORKING MODELS of how else to gain income from this... it possibly might lower the quality by negligible amounts, if that.

Face it, people want free stuff, it's nature. During a rescission people WANT more free stuff to enjoy themselves! It's fact, I'm not going to argue with you about this. The fact is my generation want free music and movies, they do it illegally so making it legal sounds a really good choice to them and will vote for this and the party to get into power... eventually it will happen... there is no denying it, time changes, it's a new world now; deal with it!

EDIT: Make your own poll if you wish... then you can get your own results! 'Do you want films and music free or do you want to keep paying for your shizzle!?!?!' Would be a nice question to have. 🙂

You've effectively just told me to start a biased poll... and I haven't actually seen one thing the Pirate Party has to offer except free media... which would be significantly lower quality... also if people can't afford material goods that they don't need like a music album, tough shit. They should live with it.

No one has said ANYTHING the Pirate Party to offer except free downloads which would be shitty quality anyway... and there are far more important issues then whether media should be free or not.
