Aren't all Pokemon wild if you catch them?

I mean normal wild pokemon do not count, like finding a level 50 golduck in Silver Cave doesn't count.

Wow I got my versions mixed up...I was thinking there were two Snorlax in GSC...there is only 1 lol!

Yeah, there's just one Snorlax in front of the Diglett cave. There's 2 Snorlax in RBY.
