In 2016, Democrats were on the verge of taking over the supreme court. Justice Scalia had recently passed away, leaving an open slot that could sway the court towards the left.

Then, Trump won.

Justice Gorsuch secured a continued balance in the court. Now that Kennedy is resigning, a new conservative Justice will be selected to replace him. That will mean that 5 members of the court will be pro-trump, principled, god-fearing conservatives. With Ruth Bader Ginsburg's age and health status, and with Trump's prospects for winning a second term, we could very easily see 6 or even 7 conservatives Justices on the supreme court.

What do you all think? Will the Supreme Court help MAGA?

Yes, I see Pro-Trump superior court. But the GOP, as expected, will push back and try to put some democrat in there.

I think they should appoint Fletcher Reed to the Supreme Court.

Pro-Constitutional*

Corrected the title for you. I know a lot are offended on the left who are afraid of a Supreme Court that will enforce the 1st and 2nd amendments.

And all the amendments too! TBH though, Pro Trump = Pro Constitution.

Hmm, depends how you define democrat. Trump gets to choose the nominees, so GOP doesn't have too much choice.

This really doesn't change a lot now. Kennedy, Thomas, Alito, Roberts, and Gorsuch tended to vote towards the right; while Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan were sure left votes. In neutral issues, Kenndy and Roberts sometimes vote towards the left. This just ensures that in all issues the vote will be towards the right, which is a good thing for Trump.

I will say this: I hate how the SCOTUS works. They're able to practically create their own policy through judicial activism. It's absolutely legal and ethical, but it seems wrong that someone like Trump/Obama/Clinton/any-living-person can leave such a powerful impact upon the US. Trump and Obama have been able to put people of similar judicial philosophies on the court to ensure that their policy is passed. In a country where everyone is supposedly equal, this is something that should be revisited in order to create a check on the Judicial Branch.

Hmm. Kennedy was a Reagan appointee, and did lean conservative, but he was also the most common swing vote. This will make a difference I think. And especially if another vacancy opens during Trump's time.

Most times that SCOTUS legislated from the bench benefited the American people, I think. The gay rights ruling, maranda rights. When they legislate, they tend to do it in offering compromises that benefit our rights. They usually don't legislate away rights.

Bush/Romney Republicans OK, alt-right, no. Too much of an association with "out of the closet" racists. :bored:

So the Supreme Court thing is creepy but I think the people surrounding Trump are often not alt-right, like Pence.

Trump isn't alt-right, either. He said it many times, but no matter how many times people (the media) ask, nobody gets it. It's the others that are alt-right, except for folks like Pence and a few of the cabinet.

I wonder how Trump reacted to Kennedy, though. I mean, I know Regean and Trumps were good friends, and Trump respects him.

He reacted very weak to the Charlottesville protests, as well as other blunders.

This is what the liberal mainstream media would have you think!

The media talks about Charlottesville like a mantra. Trump didn't immediately comment on the protests because it's not the job of the President of the United States to judge ordinary citizens like that. It's the media's job to opine on such things, not his.

Yeah, but if the protests were culturally left, you can be sure the right would have commented on it.

There is so much truth to this. Do you think Trump would have been silent for so long if someone on the left had plowed their car into a group of conservative protesters? Of course not.

And when Trump did eventually respond he responded by saying "there are good people on both sides", when one side was literally a group of white supremacists. Can you imagine Trump responding like that if someone from a group of Muslims had plowed a car into a group of conservatives?

Maybe he would have responded, maybe he wouldn't have. The media definitely wouldn't be hounding him to issue a statement of total condemnation within 0.05 seconds of learning.

Blaming both sides of the aisle for what happen in Charlottesville was totally a weak move, right? Gotta be bias like Democrats and the corporate media, right? 🙄

Then again, never seen any Democrats calling out alt-left Antifa members from using blow torches trying to light people on fire in Charlottesville, plenty of videos on Youtube, but no one on the left wanted to talk about that.

Have you seen some of those websites removed from the other thread (racist ones)? You would know why they would want to light them up!

You should really stop reading those websites. They're nothing but fear-mongering clickbaiters that want to drive an agenda. I do not tolerate racism, I doubt Trump is as racist as everyone shills Trump to be. Just because he's white, doesn't mean he leans alt-right, and is racist. If that were the case, this match would not have happened:

You see that guy, in the background? That's Bobby Lashley, who Trump "represents."

We would like to see an Russian alternative to that video. 😉
