Does anyone here use Tumblr to promote their forums? When you make a new post there, you can include a link to one of your forum’s topic and also, add some context to it.

That way, you can encourage users on tumblr to discuss your forum’s thread and possibly attract a reblog to your post. When your posts receive a reblog on tumblr, more users end up seeing it on tumblr and it also helps you attract more traffic to your forum.

Also, a each reblog counts as a new backlink on the search engines as well.

So, does anyone else use Tumblr to promote their forum? If yes, how often do you use tumblr to promote your forum?

I've used it previously when advertising a jcink forum but haven't used it since we switched to Xenforo. A lot of those communities tumblr communities are RP based and want a specific software (jcink, proboards, etc). I personally didn't have much luck considering my community isn't RP based but I've seen quite a few use the platform to grow.

I didn't know tumblr links are do follow. Thanks for the tip.

I have not used Tumblr for promoting my forums, however, I tried with my blogs and I gave up because I did not get traffic and engagements despite being active on Tumblr.

I never even considered doing that myself! It it worth it?

I never really considered Tumblr to be a good place to promote my websites. I feel like you might do better if you have a roleplaying forum, but again it can be difficult to get new members via social media. Though it doesn't hurt to give it a shot!

I haven’t done that myself but might be worth a try
Twitter X barely works and thats a bigger microblogging platform.

I feel like I've mostly seen RP forums advertised on Tumblr since the RP community is big on there. I know way back in the day when I actually used Tumblr, I did a little bit of advertising on there, but I never felt like it helped much. It can be hit or miss with RP communities too (but a lot of it boils down to whether or not the site itself is actually active and interesting to people too), but I've noticed they tend to get a lot more traction than typical sites.

Definitely not a bad idea to talk about your community on there though. Tumblr's free to use, and it's basically free advertisement, even if it doesn't really get you much in the way of new, active members. Might not be worth investing too much into it if you don't have the time to do so, but if you've got the time, I don't think it'd hurt anything.

I wasn't successful with tumblr. so, I left it.

As long as make an account with your website’s name and communicate with other tumblr users, you should be able to have much more success on it than Twitter. Tumblr has a lot of gaming users.

there's no luck with Twitter or with any mainstream social media tbh they're too focus on their feed format.
Tumblr on the other hand might be worth a shot so i keep that in mind 🙂

Tumblr is very strict about posting links, and I have observed many posts containing links being banned along with the associated accounts.

I suppose it comes across as spam.

I have never used Tumblr myself but maybe I should give it a try, If I get banned then so be it 😀

It depends on how you’re interacting with the community. If you join the platform and interact & take the time to build your followers, then you won’t have any issues.

Content that breaks these rules are usually removed by the platform.

Not sure if I realized Tumblr was still a site.
I remember when it got bought out though - looks like that was 2019... time flies. I kind of forgot about Tumblr in that time to be honest.
