Offered by user 'Phyllx' on my site.
He has allowed me to share this here as he is not a member at FP. He hopes to receive some feedback and hopefully this thread will convince him to join here. If not, he hopes at least that this site is created even if it's not him.

So basically, it is up for grabs.

Here is his post:
What would you peoples think of a promotion board that solely focused on hiring staff? Would you join to find staff?

There'd be a good review system of members, sites, and reputation system.

So...discuss!

That would be interesting and novel. I would join it

It would most likely be a forum, says Phyllx, but perhaps not. He does not have the knowledge to code a fully automated script or system for this.

Hires would be manual.
He says that this forum should include sections such as:
-Resumes (users post their resume)
-Job Offers (sites post job openings, request resumes/interviews)
-Sections regarding training...People can learn tips to being a good staff.
-Discussion sections would include horror stories, success stories, and sections to update users on how their sites are doing.

Profile system for users would also be detailed.

Great idea, it could work. Does he / she plan on focusing on a particular niche or geographic area.

We have a lot of unemployment in Ireland at the moment and I've toyed with the idea of starting an Irish jobs forum, where members would get help with getting a job and employers could post job vacancies.

Fergal I don't think the idea is meant for employment in real life but rather staff for working on forums.

Still your idea could work out to.

I think its a nice idea.

Ghost horror stories? °_°

It could work. And then each hired staff would get a rating based on their performance or something

I would be interested to see a forum like this. I mean I've tried hiring from other places but always had pretty abysmal luck. So it'd be nice to have a spot where all sorts of people could come to look for various forum jobs and admins could go to hire them.

With that mentioned though, I am rather worried about how the hiring works. Like is this a site where people would be wanting real cash or on-site cash to do jobs? (Kind of like how on FP you often see people putting up job requests for paid$ or paidFP offers only.) Which I think would be a problem since then if one person starts getting paid for staffing, then others will too and suddenly it's going to be that much harder for those without decent budgets to hire people.
(Plus there is the issue that just because they're getting paid doesn't guarantee they'll do a great job.)

Having a reputation system or some other method to show whether someone was trustworthy or flaky would be nice. Though it shouldn't be relied upon too heavily because of how easy it is for people to make unsubstantiated claims. (EX- "They left after a week" when the site was shut down or they couldn't get onto it.)

Though one problem I foresee is getting people who are interested in becoming staff to join since at first you're going to have a flood of admins and webmasters joining looking for staff, but no one is really going to be there to fill those voids.

Back in 2009, I actually ran a forum like this, called Resume Bulletin. Unfortunately, the longevity isn't very good. It will work for a week or two, but eventually, forums will quit hiring or members will bore of only getting a few applicants.

Off to bed, but I will respond in full after I speak to Phyllx / wake up. But quickly; Fergal I could totally see this working and I told Phyllx and he thought it was an awesome idea.

pretender, that has a lot to do with the amount of members. A larger site wouldn't have that much of a problem, just simple drops in activity, not deadness.

Also though if it is limited to site job offers/searching then it WILL be hard as sites don't need staff 24/7.
I think Phyllx may be thinking about Fergal's idea now more.

I like this idea. I'd be willing to help out. 🙂

Is there anything like this already out on the web?

As far as I know, there has been a similar idea, but run in form of website, not a forum. I think I can see it works better in website than forum, since a website wouldn't depend on activity much like forum does, but I guess it can be tried. I'm interested to see how it'll turn out. ^^
