Elisa Kho of the Philippine congress has filed a bill that will mandate parents to plant a tree for each child they have. The tree should be planted in their home. At this early, some are already against the law. First issue is the planting area. What if the family lives in a a residential building? And how about those in the apartments and the homeless? Second issue is the monitoring. What method will be used to ensure the the parents are abiding by that law? Third issue is the maintenance. It’s easy to plant. Get a seed, plant it and if it grows then it’s okay. But how to be sure that the seed would grow into a tree. Personally, I think that bill is good for the environment but the method is impractical and unrealistic.
