Pros and Cons of a VIP forum

There really are no pros or cons at all. It's really just nothing. I guess the pro could be it makes them feel special but that's about it.

Yeah we used to give them a special rank extra pm space etc.
No one is really going to donate to the site just for the title though... or at least no one who has access to money is going to do that.

Yeah i was just referring to the fact that people with money and paypal accounts (over 18) aren't going to be buying it just for a colored name and extra vip forum. They will expect something.Kaiser. said:

So the maximized PM space or the extra ads didn't make you want to buy it at all? It was just the black name?? Even if such a phenomenon exists with people over 18 where they need to see their name differently, a thing like that is mostly going to occur in younger teenagers.
VIP works if you have content to offer to persuade people to want to get it.
Haven't started it yet on my new forum, but in the past I have always followed the same formula, of arcade access, more PM, bigger Sigs and Avys limits, and a VIP section which contains various perks.
Usually make it a posting incentive when first starting up a forum, in the beginning I'm not trying to start racking in cash I'm looking for posts. Get 400 posts get VIP, then a few months in you add the option to pay for VIP to bypass it being attained by posting. This method got me to 150,000 posts in 6 months on my previous forum.

Pro's: Gives VIP's (or whatever else they may be called on a forum) a place to hang out and post things that wont be visible to the entire world (so to speak). It also might make them feel all special. 😛

That VIP forum could be the reason. Obviously not a "YAy we're VIP!!" forum, but something like bhw had/has where jr. VIPs received entry to the Jr. VIP board where certain marketing methods were discussed.OBAMA said:

They can be slobs and brag, ''Hey you, look at me, IMMA VIP &IMMAWHIPYOA$$.'' - Con.
Never came across that con on most forums I have stayed at for a long period of time although I have noticed it on sites that are out of control, eg - WarezBB.
