Republic RP? What do you think?

So, I have an idea, and it is either RP as a your own nation, which individuals control fully, economically, diplomatically, militarily, and they can take the nation (realistically) in any direction they want. Another idea is to RP as a single nation, and all the people in it RP as members of that society, from businessmen to politicians, and even have to get elected for public office.
