Rocky is a simple story of a boxer who became champion against all odds. But it became a hit and made Sylvester Stallone a certified box office star. To think that Stallone had written the story so many years before. He was peddling the story to the producers and directors but no one took him seriously. What he did was to gather his resources and produced the movie himself. If not for the daring move, Stallone would still be a movie extra today.
Isn't it funny how one movie can take a person and make them into a star seemingly overnight? When J. K. Rowling came up with the idea for Harry Potter, I heard she had a hard time trying to find someone that would publish the first book when she had finished the first script of it. Don't you know that all the people that turned her down back then are kicking themselves now?
Anyway, I don't mean to go off topic. My point is, sometimes these big shots up in Hollywood don't always make the right choices and end up loosing out on some of this stuff. All it takes is for one person to give a person like that a shot for it to take off. However, on the flip side, something like that could flop big time just as easily. It's a gamble that these big shots have to make.
Rocky is a fantastic movie. I love watching it and every other Rocky film in the franchise. Sylvester Stallone never gave up on it and made it a big success. He's a well known movie star today because he doesn't know the word quit.
