It appears the Samsung Galaxy S series is really taking on Apple. Sure it's only early days for Samsung, but it's becoming more apparent that the S, S2 and potentially the S3 are really changing the playing field. I can't think of any prominent series of phones which are really taking on the iPhone, so we have quite a battle going on in today's world of smart phones.

Do you reckon Samsung Galaxy S series will become bigger/better than the Apple iPhone series?

No. The next iPhone will make the Samaung S series look like a cord phone.
Clearly no bias here.

You've provided no legitimate reasons for your absurd and elitist claims.

What makes the iPhone 5 (but they are all just rumours, so you could not know at the moment) better than the Galaxy S3?

Galaxy S3 was the most pre-ordered phone of all time. So right now it is the best phone ever. I have the S2 and I find that to be better than the iPhone 4S. So we just have to wait for iPhone 5 to see what that is all about. But I don't have my hopes up for it.

Just because something is the most ordered thing doesn't make it the best thing of all time. If One Direction sells the most albums in the world they aren't suddenly the best band in the world are they?

Fair enough, but this is definitely one measure of success. Those who are crunching figures know what they are doing, so it's reasonable to expect that all those ordered devices will be sold.

It's like Android, it has more users using the OS over iOS but does it make it better by default? You have to remember Android has more phones out there so there's a higher chance of an Android powered phone being bought.

🙂

They will never sell more than Apple. Whether or not it is better means nothing. Apple products are icons, not industry-leaders in quality.

Frankly, the Galaxy S series is the only phone I would have if I didn't have an iPhone. Though I do love my iPhone. maybe I'll switch at my free upgrade.

I think the Samsung Galaxy phones like S, S2, S3, and Note are a worthy competitor to the iPhone since Samsung has more models to fit people different needs and price ranges.

If Samsung makes a budget branded quad-core CPU with 1GB of RAM smartphone which cost under 180 dolllars, a lot of people might buy it like how people buy the Amazon Kindle Fire making it the best selling Android based budget tablet because it is one of the cheapest dual-core 1GHz tablets available in the US.

So far they've already done that. With the S3, the specs are a lot better than the 4S. The S2 gave the 4S competition as well but both smartphones have their ups and downs (worst with the S2's skyrocket which has better specs than the S2).

After saying that, you reminded me about this commercial. Where I live, I'm trying to break people out of that habit and to watch smartphone specs and read reviews before purchasing one [within their budget].

PS. I'm no hater of either smartphones. Heck, I'm going to buy both the S3 and the iPhone 5 unlocked (when the iPhone5 is available / and I might give one away at my forum or maybe to my sister).

The iPhone is the real deal. Samsung is not, they are just copiers.

The iPhone is and always will be the best phone.

As Gimgak stated, you have still yet to of provided a legitimate reason for your "absurd and elitist" claims. I think the proper terminology for your newest post could be "extremely broad generalizations".

Exactly what specifically makes you say this? Can you provide one specific reason?

Apple is trying to get a restraining order on the S III in the US. I hope it passes.

People say Samsung will get revenge when the 5 comes out...I hope they do as apple would win. Show samsung not to mess with them

So the only real reason why you don't like Samsung is because they allegedly copied Apple? Again, these are very elitist views. That's more of a personal bias rather than the quality of the technology.

S Voice. The OS. Screen is better. The rear camera is slightly better.
4 reasons, none are substantiated. Why is Siri that great? What makes the OS that great? What makes the screen better? The rear camera is virtually the same.

Now, it's acceptable to say that Apple or any other company is only improving because other companies come up with something better. This warrants the necessity to improve their own technology thus increases competition.
