What has been the most scariest moment in your forum career? This could be anything from losing data without a backup to getting sued for something. Tell us your scary forum stories! 😀
Scary moment... There was a time when I couldn't log in to my account with my usual password even though I didn't change it. And after a while I tried again I got the info box that my account did not exist. And I was an administrator, lol. The forum got hacked, that's why.
One time, I had this Co-Admin, I trusted him and he trusted me (well, at least I think.) We talked a lot about trusand we were the same age group, therefore I trusted him whole-heartedly. He offered to pay for a premium hosting service for my old gaming service and I got really excited and said a big yes. So, he upgrade the forum, we changed from a freeforums.org host, got a new domain name and transferred to a phpbb server.
The forums went on for quite a while (succsesfully.) And that was when IT... happened. I woke up one morning and went to the link for the forums and saw a message, "Data not recieved, code error." I had no access to the hosting service as he owned it and I couldn't get to ACP for the forums and I had NO experience with html or css whatsoever.
I emailed him repeatedly and got no reply. It has now been about three months since this happened.
When one of my old websites got hacked. And they injected a shell and there was all this black screen with red font. Luckily, we got that all cleared up but he kept on hacking it and it wouldn't stop. Finally, he did.
