Hello there. So over the past few days, I've been posting progress updates for this Webportal that I'm working on called, 'Search-Compass'.

And in just a couple of days, I've done a good amount of progress.

So to start, I've now added more stuff into the Homepage. Here's a picture showing some of the content that's going to be featured in the Homepage:

Looking at that image, you can see some of the stuff I've added and changed about. Here's a highlight of what's been added/changed:
  • More Website Links in the ESD(Extra-Stuff-Dock)
  • Changed the Font from Arial to Times New Roman
  • A Featured-News Section
  • Photo and Video Highlights Section
  • A Custom-Made Search-Engine just for this site
  • Changed the Background from one on the internet to a generated picture
That's just a quick highlight of everything that's been added.

Now, I'm going to tell you about this one part of the site that's probably intriguing you just now. The Alphabetical-Webpage-Search-Directory(AWDR for short). Here's a close up picture of it here:

So this is a Search-Engine, Custom-Made just for Search-Compass. What it does is:
  1. The User enters in a Letter from the Alphabet(A, H, G, X etc.)
  2. Clicks the 'Search The Directory Button' or the Right-Shift Key
  3. An entire of page of selected Webpages will be displayed
Sure, it may not sound great and it would be better to just Search for a Page on Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing etc. or just embed a Search-Engine into the site.

And my final thing to say for this Progress-Update is a Logo for Search-Compass. It's a simple looking Logo but it will do for now. Here it is:

Tell me if you like the amount of progress being made so far. I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Just out of curiosity, why do you build websites that look like they are from the 90's? This is 2019, you should only be putting things that are built with responsiveness, material, and other methodologies that are modern. Also, that search field, is there PHP behind it? If so, what is being done to ensure it's not exploitable? I can already see myself having fun with an injection.

To be honest, I don’t really know. Just something about old websites inspires me to do an old design. But seeing as you’ve written this, I’ll try and push myself for a modern design.

And just so you know, I don’t know anything about PHP(But I would love to learn it). The Search is controlled by JS and redirects the user to a .html page on the site.

I will take what you said about the design and try to aim for a modern look.

Is it up and running? Post up the site's URL.
No, not yet. I’ve decided that I’m going to make some changes to a few things before uploading it to the WWW. I am also still working on things like adding pages, developing the Search-Directory and adding content to the homepage.

I’ll make a new post for when it’s ready.
