I think it should be legal. Marijuana is pretty much harmless.
What happens when you drink too much liquor? You can get alcohol poisoning.
What happens when you snort too much cocaine, do too much of a hard drug, or take too many pills? Well you could OD and die.
What happens when you smoke too much marijuana? You fall asleep, and wake up feeling fine.
Say you are really stressed out.. You drink your sorrows away and what happens (for most people) your feelings get amplified and you get more angry and do something you might regret.
Say you are really stressed out.. you go and do a bunch of hard drugs (like cocaine or meth) well you might get overly paranoid or just think about your problems even more.
Say you are really stressed out.. you go and smoke some marijuana and get relaxed and forget about what was bothering you (in most cases).
Those are just some scenarios I made up and results may differ from person to person 😉
As for people who have health problems..
Here are some marijuana heath facts (Source: sanfranciscocannabisclubs.com)
Medical marijuana helps many people with a number of wide-ranging symptoms. Research concludes that medical marijuana has three major properties which are medically useful. Medical marijuana is:
* An analgesic (relieves pain)
* An anti-emetic (relieves nausea and vomiting)
* An appetite stimulant (induces hunger)
Medical marijuana is used for medicinal purposes for a large number of diseases, illnesses and disabilities without many of the side affects that accompany todays most commonly-prescribed medications. Medical marijuana is one of the safest active substances known and has a wide variety of therapeutic applications including:
* Reduction of muscle spasms.
* Relief from chronic pain.
* Relief from nausea and increase of appetite.
Marijuana is frequently beneficial in the treatment of the following conditions:
* AIDS. Medical marijuana can reduce the nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite caused by the ailment itself and by various AIDS medications.
* Glaucoma. Medical marijuana can reduce interlobular pressure, thereby alleviating the pain and slowing -- and sometimes stopping -- the progress of the condition.
* Cancer. Medical marijuana can stimulate the appetite and alleviate nausea and vomiting, which are common side effects of chemotherapy treatment.
* Multiple Sclerosis. Medical marijuana can limit the muscle pain and spastically caused by the disease, as well as relieving tremor and unsteadiness of gait.
* Epilepsy. Marijuana can prevent epileptic seizures in some patients.
* Chronic Pain. Medical marijuana can alleviate the chronic, often debilitating pain caused by myriad disorders and injuries.
* Many patients also report that medical marijuana is useful for treating arthritis, migraine, menstrual cramps, alcohol and opiate addiction, and depression and other debilitating mood disorders.
It'd be hard to not play the Devil's advocate. You can legalise it; leading to less drug-related violence, or, you can not legalise it, consequently, causing more drug-related violence.
Really, when you get sick and your doctor prescribes you some perscription drugs, you wont take them? Even if they will save your life? The point Im making is that there is some drugs that are good and some that are bad and I dont think marijauna is one of them (otherwise doctors wouldnt prescribe to people on occasion or let people obtain cannabis cards). People just need to know their limits.
If they were to legalise Cannibis, who would regulate it.. Do you in your opinion think that it could be regulated to such an extent as say, the bar industry?
Would we have fairtrade weed?
I think it would be too hard of a job for countries to regulate who smoked what where. Therefore best left illegal.
I know people who claim they are not addicted to smoking canibis, but they cannot go a day without smoking it. Anything can become an adictive habit. Smoking is no different.
I do think they should legalize it, since tobacco and alcohol are legal.
I have smoked weed and I still do on the odd social occasion and I've never had anything bad come of it, only good times and some epic memories.
There is NO reason why weed should be illegal when alcohol isn't and neither is tobacco.
Oh wait... Yes there is. The corporations make a massive amount of money from alcohol and tobacco...
*rolls eyes*
And why are people who've never done weed saying that it is bad? You don't know until you try it and I've never met a person who has tried it and disliked it.
I say keep it illegal. Why? I had an admin who smoked it. He sent harrassing emails to the members when he got high. He had no self control at all, and the forum suffered because of it. Needless to say I fired him, but some of the affected members didnt trust staff as much from then on. Moral: It indirectly affects people you dont even realize it does until its too late.
Theezy hit the mark in this one. Though I am not for any form of drug use, it makes sense. Really, as far as I know, tobacco has more dangerous chemicals than Cannabis. Correct me if I am wrong here.......
